Hue is the last capital of Feudalism in Vietnam from 1802 to 1945, so the city just like the big museum with lots of relics, that you can see everywhere in this city. Hue also is one of the most peaceful and romantic city in Vietnam with small streets covered by green line of trees. The city located on both sides of romantic Perfume River with one side is administration area with well-known Imperial Citadel and other side is for regular residence area. Hue is not only attractive in urban area but the rural area also can bring lots of surprise and inspiration for photographers. There are many hidden areas in the city with amazing charm waiting for you to discover, and many of them is out of touristy area. Hue Imperial Citadel
Hue Imperial Citadel was constructed by the Nguyen King from 1802 to 1831. It used to be the place for the King to live and work just like Forbidden Purple Citadel. After over hundred years and two severe wars, the citadel still remains some typical sites such as Noon Gate, Great Harmony Palace, Thai Binh Pavilion, Queen Mother Palace, The Mieu, Hien Lam Cac and nice Dynasty Urns. The Imperial Citadel can be perfect place for some historical or ancient architecture photograph.
The Nguyen King Tombs
They are unique constructions that just only can be found in Hue. The tombs of Nguyen Kings in Hue are just like the Pyramids for Egyptian Kings, that all have been constructed when the Kings were alive. After being constructed, the Tomb was just like the weekend palace for the King, that he could go there and enjoy his stay with his Queen and concubines. So they all invested so much money and time to make the scenery of the tomb to be romantic and beautiful. After the Kings passed away, the tomb just turned to be the burial and worshiping place. Most of the tombs of Nguyen Kings in Hue are still intact and also is one of the highlight for photograph in Hue.
Thien Mu Pagoda
Thien Mu Pagoda is belonging to the list of one of the best ten pagodas in Vietnam. Located in perfect location on Ha Khe Hill by Perfume River. The Phuoc Duyen Tower in the pagoda now is the symbol of Hue City. The collection of Buddha statues, beautiful view to Perfume River, and amazing garden with bonsai trees can be the good subject for your photography here.
The area around Imperial Citadel
This area still have not changed much from the old time, that still keeping many characters of ancient Hue. In every corner of the streets here, you can find different relics from old time of Hue. This is the great place for some candid or spontaneous photograph in Hue.
The rural area of Hue
This is very green and peaceful area with many relics still left along the way. The highlights the rural area of Hue is Bao Vinh ancient town where you can take the great photos of the town from river and also the boat on the river and Thanh Toan Cover Bridge – the unique bridge in Hue with great architecture and location.
Kim Long Village
Kim Long Village is well-known village of noble class in Hue in the feudal time. The mandarin, prince and princess residence were in this village and still remains many relics, specially the garden house from this time that you can visit and take the photograph.

Dong Ba Market is the biggest whole sales market in Hue and also one of the most attractive tourist attractions in the city. Most of the local travelers come here for doing their shopping but the best time to see market is in the early morning from 6 to 7 AM in the food and vegetable section when everything there still so fresh included the products and the sellers before the long day ahead.
Hue City in Vietnam has quite extreme weather: can be very hot in the summer but very cold in the winter time. The rainy season is also in the winter time from August to January. The local rain can last very long that also could affect to your photography tour in Hue. If it is not in the rain, the best season for photography tour to Hue in Vietnam can be in the autumn from September to November when the weather is not too hot and we still can take the photos with blue sky and sunny weather.
You need at least two days to take the photograph in Hue. The Imperial Citadel, the tomb of the Kings and the other historical relics are recommended for one day. The other day is reserved to photograph of Hue rural area, candid or daily life.
