Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2013

The 5th Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2013 will take place from April 27 to May 1, 2013 at the center of Hue city, the capital of Thua Thien – Hue province.

The traditional craft festivals were held once every two years in odd years. And in 2013, its theme is “Craft villages in tourism development”. This event is organised by the Hue City People’s Committee in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Thua Thien – Hue Tourism Association. It will attract the participations of traditional craft villages in Thua Thien Hue as well as other provinces.

Main activities of Hue Tradional Craft Festival 2013 include exhibition, introdution of handicrafts as well as shopping service for visitors attending the festival. In addition, many activities responding the festival will also be organized, such as craft villages fair, art photo exhibition on craft villages, instruction of making traditional handicrafts, artisans meeting, talk and honor; programs of art performance; installation art… The famous craft products Palm-leaf conical hat, embroidery, rattan knitting, paper flowers, Zeng textiles, wooden handicraft, jewelery handicraft, Hue latterns and kites; food processing group: Nem, pork pies, sour shrimp, sesame candy…, bone and ivory handicraft, bronze handicraft, lacquer, Sinh village painting … of artisans and villages in the province along with the products of other famous village in Vietnam will participate in this 5th festival.

The 5th Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2013 is opportunity to introduce traditional craft villages in Hue and also honor Hue cuisine in particular and Vietnamese cuisine in general to domestic and international visitors; contribute to affirming Hue as an special culture-tourism center, festival city of Viet Nam.
