Unveiling the Rich History of Lung Van – Cradle of Muong Heritage
The Muong people, with a historical legacy deeply rooted in the northern regions of Vietnam, have thrived across three provinces: Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, and Phu Tho, boasting a population of nearly 1.5 million individuals. In the province of Hoa Binh, the Muong community is intricately divided into four regions: Muong Bi (now Tan Lac district), Muong Vang (now Lac Son district), Muong Thang (now Cao Phong district), and Muong Dong (now Kim Boi district). Passed down through generations, the Muong people uphold a saying, “Nhat Bi – Nhi Vang – Tam Thang – Tu Dong,” which categorizes the size of residential areas. Consequently, the region encompassing Muong Bi, Lung Van, and Van Son emerges as the paramount cradle of Muong heritage in Vietnam.
The allure of Lung Van tourism newly came to the forefront, prior to which the area remained akin to a slumbering beauty within the forest. The year 2019 witnessed a significant milestone as three communes – Lung Van, Bac Son, and Nam Son – united to form the consolidated commune of Van Son. In a concerted effort to preserve Muong culture and enhance the economic well-being of the local populace, Hoa Binh province has undertaken various initiatives.
These initiatives encompass the upgrading of roads, electrical infrastructure, and the strategic planning of sustainable tourism development in Van Son commune, Tan Lac Distric, Hoa Binh Province.
